MSU Football: Bobcats Score Big in Big Sky Championship Game

Bobcats Set New Scoring Record in Win

3-Touchdown Performance by Shawn Johnson Leads Montana State to Victory

The official athletics website for the Montana State University Bobcats is reporting that the team has posted its highest point total ever in a Big Sky Championship game, thanks in part to a three-touchdown performance by running back Shawn Johnson. Johnson racked up 256 all-purpose yards in the game, which helped lead the Bobcats to a 49-38 victory over the University of Northern Colorado.

The Bobcats took an early lead in the game and never looked back, leading 49-38 at the end of the third quarter. Montana State's defense held the Bears to just 14 points in the second half, while the offense continued to roll, scoring three more touchdowns.

Johnson's three touchdowns came on runs of 1, 5, and 10 yards, respectively. He also had a 50-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter. Quarterback Matthew McKay threw for 256 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 54 yards.

The Bobcats' victory gives them their first Big Sky Championship since 2012. They will now advance to the FCS playoffs, where they will face the University of North Dakota in the first round.
