The FDA has issued a Class I recall for jalapeno peppers, the highest risk level.

Ohio-based RS Hanline and Company Inc. initiated the recall in cooperation with Wiers Farm Inc.

Affected Products

The recall includes fresh jalapenos sold under the Aldi brand.

Other affected products include green peppers, serranos, poblanos, cubanelles, green beans, and organic bell peppers.

Reason for Recall

The peppers may be contaminated with Salmonella, a bacteria that can cause food poisoning.

Symptoms of Salmonella

Symptoms typically appear within 12 to 72 hours after eating contaminated food.

*

Common symptoms include diarrhea, vomiting, fever, and abdominal cramps.

What to Do

If you have purchased any of the recalled peppers, discard them immediately.

*

Do not consume them, as they may be contaminated.

*

Contact your healthcare provider if you experience symptoms of Salmonella.
