Andy Murray Retires From Tennis After 18-Year Career

A Legend Bows Out

Three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray announced his retirement from professional tennis on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. The 37-year-old Scot has been battling a hip injury for several years and underwent surgery in January 2019. He returned to the tour in June 2019 but has struggled to regain his former form.

A Decorated Career

Murray's retirement marks the end of an illustrious career that has seen him win three Grand Slam titles (Wimbledon in 2013 and 2016, and the US Open in 2012), two Olympic gold medals (singles in 2012 and mixed doubles in 2016), and the Davis Cup in 2015. He is also the first British man to win a Grand Slam singles title since Fred Perry in 1936.

Murray'sretirement is a major loss for the tennis world. He is one of the most successful and popular players of his generation, and he will be remembered as one of the greats of the game.
