Djokovic Battles Through to Reach the French Open Third Round
Historic Effort from Defending Champion
In a historic effort, world No1 and defending champion Novak Djokovic kept his Roland-Garros title defense alive with a hard-fought victory over Francisco Cerundolo in the second round on Sunday, June 2, 2024.
Djokovic, seeking his third consecutive French Open title and 25th Grand Slam overall, showed his supreme powers of recovery once again after dropping the first set to the Argentine qualifier.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion will take on Gael Monfils or Lorenzo Musetti at the third hurdle in Paris.

Djokovic's next match will be against Roberto Carballes in the second round.
